I would say that I use the same cosmetics and beauty products as many other women. I used to go to big salons and pay a lot of money for just a hair cut. They were always busy, loud and above all, expensive. When I discovered a small home salon, I decided to give it a try. About a month ago, I visited a friend out of state who had recently proposed to his girlfriend as a way to hang out one last time before he becomes a married man come a couple months. While there, I watched his fiancé pull a stool into the middle of the living room carpet, grab some stylist scissors bought online before giving her soon to be husband a 20-minute hair cut. I foresee a luxuriant bubble bath in my future! I have worked hard and long this past week. I have completed a month long and involved business project, presented it and got an approval on the job. The kids have gotten through a rough spell with a bunch of homework, science projects and intense quizzes.

Together my son and I prepared a space ship and constellation science fair project. It won the second prize award in it's category. My daughter and I practiced and reviewed quiz questions until we both could have passed the exam. She did exceptionally well with an "A." My husband did his share of the household chores and worked overtime while we were all involved with those other things. The entire family could use a break!

My break will come in the form of a bubble bath. Everyone knows at these times to let me abandon myself to the master bath. I have to admit that being married to a skin care professional for more than a decade certainly has its merits. I just got home from getting a hair cut at a local home salon. I love going there because it's private and so quaint. The hair cut is always wonderful, and the price fits right into my budget. She has turned her old pool room into a home salon, with a sink and chair for washing, a seat with a dryer for setting, and a seat for hair cuts. Then she has a small waiting space with a couple of chairs. It's great that it's never super busy because it is a one-person operation. She never over-schedules which is convenient, meaning I never have to wait for my appointment. She doesn't charge an arm and a leg, so I can go as often as I need. It's nice and quiet, with soft music playing at the right volume. I like the personalized care and the fact that she remembers me from visit to visit. Now that I go to a home salon for all of my hair appointments, I will never go back to a large salon again.

A Bubble Bath is the Ultimate Indulgence

A bubble bath, to me is the ultimate indulgence. It feels so wonderful after a long, hard day. With kids running around all day, laundry to be done, work to be accomplished (I work from home), and everything else a bubble bath just feels luxurious. I put some soft music on, light a candle or two, add the bubbles to my bath and slip in. Sometimes I read a book while I'm in the bubble bath, and other times I don't. It feels awesome, the bubbles against my skin and the warmth of the water. I could do it every day! About six months ago, I came home from a really long and exhausting business trip and the only thing I wanted to do was take a bubble bath and relax. Being winter the weather is cold, nights crisp and on the west coast there is not much humidity in the air. All of these factors create the perfect storm for dry, cracked skin. I am not sure if most men are like me in that I love skin creams and for me finding skin creams that work well is a must. The holidays have come and gone, but one gift I got I'll always have around because I like it so much.
