My girlfriends and I get together at least every three months or so for what we call a "ya ya day." This is a girls only event. We spend an entire day at one of our houses and open shop for the "home salon." We color each others hair, do manicures and pedicures, plus we enjoy facials and masks. We just hang out and chat while doing all this self indulgent beauty care. 

We also partake of mimosa's and special treats each of brings to the gathering. We have done this home salon deal for many years. We have helped each other through births, deaths, marriages and divorces. The subject matter for our discussions is an open book, anything goes. And as it is said about Vegas, things that happen during our home salon ya ya days stay with us only.

As our daughter's have grown up they have been part of these special days on occasion. It became a right of passage when each of our girls was allowed to join in on the fun. They know now that any time they want to have a home salon ya ya day they are more then welcome. Sometimes they initiate and host the gatherings! Who needs expensive therapists when you have ya ya days?!
