For most of my adult life, I've loved spending a weekend at the spa. I find it to be the ultimate in relaxation, and even though I can only afford to go three or four times a year, I love it. Around Christmas of this past year, my best friend and I were out for lunch and we ran into an old friend who we invited to join us. We hadn't seen her in years, and she looked fabulous. When we asked her how she did it, she said she accredits it to the home salon she'd started for herself and a few close friends. Since I'd never heard of a home salon, I was all ears and so was my best friend. She said she was on vacation and she met a lady who had started a home salon for friends and it had turned into a booming business.

I asked our old friend how one turns their home into a home salon and she said they had turned a guest bedroom into a home salon area and had eventually added a steam room to the outside of the house. I believe at that moment my best friend and I both started thinking that we simply had to have a home salon of our own. All we could talk about on the way home is where we could set up a home salon and how we'd make it work.

Eventually, we decided that we would share the costs of starting a home salon and that it would be only for us and some of our closets friends. Since I have the most available space and the most land, we decided to turn an unused shop area into the home salon including a jacuzzi and also a sauna. We added chairs to lounge on, and I figured if I was going to have a home salon we needed to learn about giving facials and massages so we enrolled in classes. We've recently completed the remodeling of the shop and the classes, and are now in the ordering phase of all the products we'll use in the home salon.
